I went to these programs options (settings) and they don't have a LOAD at WINDOWS startup setting to deactivate

The CHECK FOR UPDATES option is checked WEEKLY, so that can't be all that bad if it is only once a week. Or should it still be deactivated?

I would change that to “never” because…

When you enable “auto updates” programs have to have a way of CHECKING the time so they’ll either insert a system service which always delays the loading of Windows at startup, or make an entry in the Windows scheduler.

Either way it means resources wasted on a daily basis just to keep checking against the time to see if a job should be kick-started.

Now if you can imagine having 10 such programs each having to keep checking the time and/or reacting to it all day… you’ll have less and less system resources (memory and processor) available for running software.

All this auto-shit is what bogs systems down.
